Cape May is a beautiful beach town known for it’s Victorian charm. I’m sharing what we did on a weekend trip here and the best things to do when you visit!
Another successful mini getaway in the books. We explored Cape May, New Jersey on a long weekend trip and we had the best time! There is so much to do in this cute little beach town and I highly recommend checking it out. It has so much charm and there is hydrangeas on every corner. It’s a very pretty place and is known for it’s grand Victorian houses. P.S. Renting a bike makes getting around way easier, plus it’s more fun!
Things to do:
Beach
This is an obvious one, but you know I have to put it! There is nothing like that first sight of the beach in the Summer and the feeling of your toes in the sand. The beaches at Cape May are beautiful and clean. We loved grabbing our morning coffee and taking a stroll along the beach.
Cape May Winery
A must visit if you love wine – this winery is absolutely gorgeous and they have a great selection of wines to choose from. There is a lot of seating and they also serve food.
Antiquing
If you love antiques then you’ll love Cape May because this area is known for it’s great antique shops. There are a few different stores to check out. We went to the Cape May Antique Center before we left and they had a little bit of everything.
Sunset Beach
The best place to catch a sunset! You can also collect Cape May “diamonds” (pure quartz crystals that have been naturally polished by the ocean) that are scattered all throughout the pebbles/sand – super cute!
Cape May Lighthouse
You have to visit the famous Cape May Lighthouse. You can even go inside and get a tour of it. It’s located at Cape May Point State Park which also has a beach and other fun outdoor activities.
Washington Street Mall
Super colorful downtown area with tons of outdoor shops and restaurants located in the Victorian historic district. It’s such a cute place to go for a stroll and it make’s the perfect date night!
Places to eat:
The Mad Batter
The Mad Batter has a cute atmosphere and is a delicious place to grab brunch! They have so many options and really great prices.
Aloha Smoothie Co.
Grab a smoothie bowl at this trendy little shop and thank me later. It’s great for breakfast or a midday snack at the beach. I got the Pitaya bowl and it was delicious. (Definitely Instagram worthy) ๐
Quincy’s Lobster Rolls
Do yourself a favor and try one of Quincy’s delicious lobster rolls! I have been craving one since our trip to Maine and this definitely satisfied my craving.
Uncle Charley’s Ice Cream Shop
We grabbed ice cream here during our date night at the Washington Street Mall. It was perfect! Their ice cream is handmade, creamy and extremely delicious.
Harry’s
This waterfront restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and some amazing food. They even have a roof top bar and live music every night. You absolutely have to try their ‘Orange Crush’ drink, it’s the BEST.
Avalon Coffee
This little coffee shop is actually right next door to the Aloha Smoothie shop and it did not disappoint. It’s a great place to get your caffeine fix.
We already can’t wait to go back to Cape May and explore more! Have you ever been? Let me know some of your favorite things to do in the comments below. ๐
