Weddings aren’t cheap! But, I am sure you all know this. For our wedding my husband and I did a lot of DIY projects and looked for great deals whenever we could. We had to stick within a certain budget as we didn’t won’t to over pay for anything. We wanted to keep our wedding day affordable. I know it’s so easy to get mixed in with wanting to make everything perfect but it’s really only a few hours!! So try not too stress. What is really important is the actual marriage! It’s crazy how fast the day goes by, it’s over in the blink of an eye. Of course you want it to be nice, but you can make it really nice without over spending! I wanted to share some neat things we decided to DIY for our wedding instead of buy.
1)Sign & other cute crafts!
We really loved the idea of having a sign incorporated in the wedding party, and seriously, how adorable is it?! Everyone swooned over this. We bought all of the supplies for this sign from Joann Fabric. It was originally a wood heart that we painted white, used stencil and black paint marker for the words, and some champagne and pink colored stick on flowers.
2)Flowers for decorating + Table Vases
Wedding flowers are so expensive! I had a professional florist do my bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets, and all the guy’s corsages. But, for the decorating flowers I did myself. It was super easy. I actually saved a lot of money this way. I just wanted a simple look so I order peach and pink colored carnations and buschels of babys breath from the flower shop in Price Chopper and just arranged them myself. I love the way it came out. I splurged a little on those beautiful freeze dried petals though :p. They were sooo perfect I loved everything about them. I used them for decorating the bridal party tables, cake table, and I also used them for the flower girls. For anyone who is interested the petals are from Petal Garden. As for those vases with the pearl white around it, I made myself too. If you want one on those decorated vases their usually 4.99 and up each. I basically bought 20 or so vases from the dollar store and my own spindle of the pearl decoration (2 of them) found in the bow section at Michaels and made them myself!
3)Favors
I wanted to keep the favors simple and have something that everyone will actually like. You can never go wrong with Dove chocolate!! I mean really who doesn’t love it? Haha. We used small cellophane bags from Michaels to wrap them in and champagne colored ribbon along with little thank you tags. All supplies were from Michaels. The chocolate we bought big packs from Target. In the end it was an ideal price for making over 100 favors.
4)Guest Book
For our guest book we wanted to o something a little different than the traditional book,so with a little Pinterest searcing I found this idea. It was cute questions for people to answer and place in a box. It was a lot of fun reading what people wrote! Some were really silly and some were very sweet. The questions we used were: “What should we name our future kids?” “What is your favorite memory with us?” “What is your best marriage advice?” “What is a romantic place we should visit?”
5)Seating Chart
This was a lot of fun to make! After figuring out the dreaded who is sitting where part, we created this cute seating chart. Basically we repurposed a old wooden photo frame, sanded it & painted it white. Then we used a foam posted board, covered it with some shiny bridal wrapping paper, and pinned the card stock table info onto the board. It was really easy and looked fabulous at the reception!
