Wow, it’s been a minute since I posted on my blog and boy do I miss it! In November 2022 I found out that I was expecting my first baby and I got a little behind with blogging, but I hope to be back in the swing of things ASAP. We have welcomed our sweet baby girl into the world in July 2023 and somehow it’s already been 6 months! They say time flies, but I feel like that’s extra true when it comes to having a baby because it feels like just yesterday I had her. I thought it would be fun to share a little about my pregnancy journey and some fun pictures leading up to now.
I feel like I found out I was expecting super early, I was about 4 weeks along. I got a positive pregnancy test in the morning on November 17th before work and I kept that secret to myself all day long until I could tell Mike that evening. It was so hard to wait that long to tell someone! Haha. I told him by giving him a little box that had the positive pregnancy test in it along with a book of ‘Dad Jokes’ and a note saying “You’re going to need these”.
We managed to keep our little secret until Christmas and then we told both of our families. After that, we announced it to everyone. I had a lot of morning sickness and was super tired for the beginning of my pregnancy. Every appointment was so fun to go and check on the baby and heart beat. In February we found out what we were having and I think this was definitely one of my favorite parts of the whole pregnancy. Based off old wives tales I was convinced I was having a boy, but low and behold it was a girl! The best surprise ever though. I was so ready to to be a girl mom. (You can watch the video where we found out here. We opted for a private gender reveal with just the two of us and I wouldn’t have it any other way).
Next came our baby moon and we spent it in Charleston, of course. In case you didn’t know this is my favorite place, I have high hopes of moving here one day. We had such a good time relaxing and exploring. We started out our time at Folly Beach in the cutest bed & breakfast and ended our trip staying in downtown Charleston. It was so nice to have a break and one last trip just us before baby girl arrived. We ate amazing food and I even got a delicious mocktail at the cutest little spot.
After we came back we learned I had a high risk pregnancy because baby girl was measuring small (considered IUGR) AND I had gestational diabetes to top it off. So the rest of the pregnancy was a little scary and stressful. I had to change the way I was eating and check my blood sugar levels 3x a day (thankfully the GD was diet controlled). We also had extra monitoring to keep an eye on our baby to make sure everything was ok.
I had my baby shower in May and went with the theme “Baby in Bloom”. I thought this was perfect because it was Spring and who doesn’t love flowers? There is a lot of cute inspiration out there for the theme, but I just wanted to keep it sweet and simple. We were able to find a beautiful venue that didn’t need too much decorating. It ended up being such a great time!
Welcome baby Madelyn! Fast forward to mid July and our sweet baby girl made her arrival. She was born weighing 5lbs 1 oz and 18.5 inches long, so definitely a little peanut. Even though she was so small, labor & delivery was NOT easy, but I’ll spare the internet the details. ๐ We are so thankful that she’s here & healthy! Madelyn is doing great and we are so happy to have her in our lives!
I hope to start blogging again and sharing more! Let me know if you have any questions or what you would like to see from me. I’ll definetly be sharing all the same kind of content that I used to, plus some fun baby related content as well.
