Hey friends! My oh my, do I have a lot to share with you. Now that it’s officially ours, I can finally tell you that we bought a home! Buying this house has been a whirlwind to say the least. I’m writing to you from our 1970’s brick, ranch style house that we now call home. We love it because it’s in a very nice neighborhood and it’s full of potential. The house has good bones, but is definitely in need of a total face lift. We have a lot of work ahead of us until we can get it to how we want it. I know we will have to work on things little by little, but I can’t wait to start remodeling and decorating our house and making it a home.
My husband and I have been looking for our first house for a little over a year now. We looked at tons of different houses online, and in person. In total we probably looked at about 15 houses in person and hundreds online. After one failed bid war, one house we decided wasn’t for us after inspection, and a long back and fourth with our current home, we are here. We are overwhelmed with excitement and thankfulness with this big step in our lives. It’s kind of a funny story how we got our home and I’d love to share it with you. So grab a coffee and dive on in.
We first looked at our home about 8 months ago when it first came on the market. Although it’s definitely a fixxer upper, there were a few things we really liked about it right off the bat, as I said before the location, the exterior, and the layout inside. With all of these positives we decided to put in an offer, but it was rejected. We were upset at first, but we moved on and continued looking. A few months later it was still for sale and went down in price, our realtor contacted us and we put in another offer; almost sure we would get it this time. But, they countered higher and we said we weren’t going any higher and continued looking. Third times a charm, as they say, because fast forward a few more months and the sellers reached out to our realtor to see if we were still interested and we said yes. After a little back and fourth we came to an agreement and we finally closed!
It’s so funny how this all played out, it’s all in God’s perfect timing. He has blessed us with our first home, and even saved us some money for patiently waiting in the process. It’s great because for the last 2 months we have been studying the book of Esther in our community group. If you’re not familiar with the book of Esther in the bible you should read it, it’s great! One of the many things that we see in Esther is the evidence of God’s miraculous and perfect timing. He is never early, and he is never late. God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. I truly believe this house hunting journey happened the way it did because of God. So, give God a chance to do His work, on his time and his schedule. He will make everything work out just right and just as He sees fit.
I can’t wait to show you and share everything with you all regarding our house journey. More details to come like whats on our to-do list (ahem everything), plans, progress, before and afters will all be on the blog, so be on the look out! Right now I am dreaming of paint colors, flooring, furniture, and some super fun DIYs. Mike and I are so excited to see what God has in store for us next, in this little home of ours.
