How We Met

“How did you two meet?” is a question my husband, Mike, and I get asked A LOT and we love to answer it! We are always asking other couples this question too, because it’s so fun to hear. We all love a good love story. With that being said I wanted to share our story of how we met and fell in love.

It all started back in high school when Mike said he first noticed me walking through the halls and thought I was ‘HOT’ .. haha. I had a study hall with one of his friends and one time I was at the store that (Mike and his friend both worked at), and Mike asked his friend to get my number. I’d like to say it was love at first sight and the rest was history, but that is just not how it went. To be honest, I am glad it didn’t play out that way because we were both so young and naive back then we might not have ended up dating for very long and I wouldn’t have the husband I have today.

Fast forward a little bit and one of my best friends that I grew up with and one of his best friends that he grew up with started dating. Crazy, right? Que seeing each other quite often and hanging out in groups a lot. Although we seemed to hangout and see each other most weekends we still didn’t have that connection, so it took a while until I started to develop any type of feelings towards Mike (sorry babe!) Then about two years later something happened and I started liking him, although I wouldn’t admit it.

My two favorite things about Mike that started drawing me in were 1) He was super funny, and knew how to have fun anywhere. That is true still to this day, he always makes me laugh. 2) He was cute, in fact I think he is even more handsome now than ever. After I realized that I started to like him, I asked Mike to hangout one on one to see how things would go, it wasn’t long after that we realized the feelings were mutual and started going on dates.

Fun side note: Mike took a year off before he started college and worked full time to save up money to pay for classes, (he’s so smart and responsible :p). He had some money left over after tuition and you know where most of that money was spent? – On me. Mike took me on so many fun dates like out to dinner, ice cream, activities, everything. It was so great.

We were pretty much in a relationship ever since that first time we hung out together back when we were basically still teens. We dated for a few years, got engaged once Mike finished college (you can read about our proposal here), and then we got married a little over two years ago. It wasn’t an easy, effortless ride, but we are where we are now because of God’s grace. Time flies and I am so thankful for my husband. It’s so crazy to think about everything we have been through and where we are today.
