The halls have officially been decked! This is our first Christmas in our new home and it just feels so special. December goes by so fast, so I am trying to embrace every minute of it. I absolutely love Christmas decorations, they are so cozy and inviting. It’s one of my favorite parts about the holiday season. The more twinkly lights the better! Whose with me? I went with a traditional / rustic theme this year. I’m excited to share my holiday decor in the living room below! This is extra exciting because I get to show off my finished living room! The last time I shared photos of this was from “The Before House Tour “. It’s come a long way since then. I mainly decorate just the living room for Christmas and a few things here and there in the kitchen. I like to add a lot of greenery around, and I like the clean minimal look as well. I feel like the living room has just the right amount of decorations to be festive. I also like to mix silvers and golds in my holiday decor. It makes me so happy.
Some of my favorite places to shop for seasonal decor are Target, Marshalls, TJ Max, and Michaels (they offer a lot of sales and 50% off coupons this time of year)! Target’s dollar spot never disappoints, I found so many cute things in there this year including twine and small glitter clothes pins (which I used to display Christmas cards), a pack of bottle brush trees, and the Christmas countdown I have displayed on the floating shelf.
We planned on getting a real tree this year, but we ended up using our artificial one, but next year we plan on getting our first real one together. I’ve always had real trees growing up and there is just something about them that makes Christmas feel so magical, and they smell amazing! Mike has never had a real tree so it will be a first for him. We bought a few sets of ornaments when we first got married so I used those ones. Plus, we try to add 1 new and unique ornament to our tree each year. We like to add fun different ones so the tree can be personalized. This year we added a beautiful nativity ornament. We also added some burlap around our tree and I feel like it was the perfect touch!
Cozy pillows and blankets are a must when it comes to Christmas decor, or any decor really. I found plaid chenille pillows at Marshalls and they are sooo soft. I’m really into plaid this Winter. Another one of my favorite recent find was the stocking holders. I was worried how we would hang our stockings since we didn’t have a fire place and I didn’t want to put any holes in our walls and then I came across the holders. They work perfectly and they add a touch of decoration.
