Hey all! I wanted to share this super easy and delicious chocolate cookie recipe with you just in time for some holiday baking. These cookies are perfect if you love chocolate as much as I do!
I’ve been seeing the cute melted snowman cookies all over Pinterest and decided to give them a try. I wanted to have some back up ideas incase the snowmen failed. I think they turned out pretty adorable. Keep in mind, they are suppose to look melted! 😉 But, to be on the safe side I also decided to make some peppermint chocolate cookies, and ones with festive red and green sprinkles (my favorite).
For the cookies: (makes about 20)
-1 box of chocolate cake mix
-2 eggs
-1 Stick of butter (softened)
-2 Tablespoons of flour
Melted snowman decorations:
-White chocolate melting wafers
-Mini Reece’s Pieces cut in half (hat)
-Chocolate chips, or chocolate melting wafers (eyes/mouth)
-Orange frosting, or orange sprinkles (nose)
Peppermint:
-White chocolate melting wafers
-Candy cane (crushed)
Sprinkles:
-White chocolate melting wafers
-Crystals (fine sprinkles)
How to bake:
1)Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2)In a bowl combine cake mix, softened butter, eggs, and flour. Mix well. (The batter will be sticky and you may think you did something wrong, but this is what it is suppose to be like) (you DO NOT follow the instructions on the cake mix box)
3)Scoop about spoonful of cookie dough, roll into a ball and place on parchment paper.
4) Bake for 10 minutes.
5) Let cookies cool for about 5-10 minutes, then move them to a cooling rack for an additional 10 minutes.
Time to decorate:
Melt your white chocolate wafers.
I melted mine in a mug in the microwave at 15 second intervals. Be sure to stir between intervals. Pour the mixture over the cookies and spread. If you are making the peppermint or sprinkle cookies, just put your crushed candy cane, or sprinkles on top of the white mixture while still wet, then sit to let dry.
For the snowman, you will have to melt chocolate chips in the microwave as well for the eyes & mouth. You can use anything that has a point (like a toothpick) to draw with. Of course, the white chocolate needs to be hardened on your cookie before you add the eyes and mouth. (The only thing you add while the white chocolate is still warm and gooey is the snowman’s hat) Then add the nose & you’re all done!
Enjoy!
