Seneca Lake Travel Guide – Wineries we went to, where we stayed, and where we ate!
Maybe turning 25 isn’t so bad when you spend your weekend wine tasting! ๐ My husband planned a little surprise Birthday trip for me to Seneca lake and I couldn’t be happier. Having a birthday in the Winter isn’t the best when you live somewhere cold, but this was such a fun thing to do! (Cold or not). We decided to go to the East side of Seneca lake and choose the top 3 wineries that we wanted to visit on our trip. We started towards the top and worked our way down.ย I’m already excited to plan another trip to the finger lakes for the Summer/Fall.
Three Brothers Wineries & Estates
ย First stop of the day was the Three Brothers Winery. Their brewery is incredible and such a fun place to hangout with friends. You can do a tasting of 5 beers/ciders on their menu for $5 or a full size flight for $10.ย My favorite was the Red Apple Bombshell Strawberry Tangerine hard cider. They even have a bunch of board games to play which I love!
Wagner Vineyards
Wagner Vineyards is really beautiful and must check out winery. It’s big and open and has an awesome deck. This winery also has a brewery so you can do a tasting of both if your interested. In short, the views were almost as amazing as their wine. I really enjoyed their Niagara white wine and their Seneca blush wine. It was $6 for 5 wine tastings and we even got a little history lesson on the vineyard and all of the wines we tried.
Hazlitt Vineyards
Ahh, Hazlitt, home of the famous Red Cat wine aka my first favorite wine. This atmosphere is really awesome and laid back here. They have a place for wine tasting, a store, and an area for just hanging out. They have a big selection of wines and, two words… wine slushies! If you’re brave enough, ask your server if you can sing the red cat song.
Watkins Glenn Harbor Hotel
If you’re going to the finger lakes this is THE hotel to stay at. It’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. Also the views are so pretty. The rooms are clean, and the bed is very comfortable. They have a fire pit outside during the night and an indoor pool/hot tub!ย We got a lake side view room and we were thankful to wake up to the prettiest views.
Where to Eat
Dinner – There’s a number of different restaurants to choose from in downtown Watkins Glenn. We chose to go to Jerlandos for dinner by recommendation and it did not disappoint. It’s an Italian restarunt that is only a few blocks away from the Harbor hotel. The food was really good and reasonably priced. I got the ‘cajun chicken pasta’ and it was amazing.
Breakfast – For breakfast we went to a little mom & pop diner called Curly’s that is also fairly close to the hotel (about a 5 minute drive) and it hit the spot. It is a popular place to get breakfast for the locals and I can totally see why. They serve the traditional style breakfast pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. Our breakfast was ready quick and it was very good.
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post.
